MyRepresent

Privacy Policy

Effective August 5, 2026 · Applies to the MyRepresent website (myrepresent.org) and the MyRepresent iOS app

The short version: MyRepresent collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics trackers, and nothing to sell — because we never have it in the first place. MyRepresent is a free, nonpartisan public service.

What we do NOT collect

The little that is transmitted, and why

Your ZIP code or state. When you look up your ballot, the ZIP or state you enter is sent to our own server (myrepresent.org) for one purpose: returning the matching ballot. It is not linked to your identity, not used to build a profile, and not shared for any other purpose.

Chat messages to MR Bot. Questions you type to the assistant are processed by our server to generate an answer (see xAI below). Conversations are not tied to any account or identity — none exists.

Location (optional, iOS app). If you choose "Use my current location," your device determines your state and ZIP using Apple's on-device location and geocoding services. Your coordinates are never sent to our servers — only the resulting state/ZIP is used, exactly as if you had typed it. Declining location access changes nothing; you can always type a ZIP or pick a state.

On-device storage. Your chosen state/ZIP, quiz answers, and a cached copy of your ballot are stored locally on your device (and in the app's own shared container so the home-screen widget works). Deleting the app deletes them.

Standard web logs. Like every website, our hosting provider processes IP addresses transiently to deliver pages and defend against abuse. We run no analytics on top of this.

Third-party services we rely on

MyRepresent is built on a small number of external services. Most are contacted by our servers, not by your device:

CloudflareHosts the website and API (Cloudflare Pages). Processes IP addresses transiently as any host does.Your device
Federal Election Commission (FEC) APIOfficial candidate filings for U.S. House races on your ballot. Our servers

State election sitesWe link out to each state's Secretary of State and curated nonpartisan civic resources. Following a link takes you to that site under its own privacy policy.Your device, only if you tap a link

None of these integrations receive your name, contact information, or any identifier from us — we don't have those to give.

Children

MyRepresent is an educational reference suitable for all ages. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we collect none from children.

Changes to this policy

If our practices ever change, we will update this page and its effective date. Given the design of the product — no accounts, no data collection — we expect changes to be rare and boring.

Questions or feedback

The best way to reach us — and to help other voters find MyRepresent — is to leave a review of the app on the App Store. We read them.
